Great read and amazing accomplishment. I participated in this year's DBR, finished on the Hatchling course and can attest to level of difficulty for any athlete, elite or otherwise. I can particularly relate to the vagaries of the bogs and baby grass which were my undoing. Congratulations on your accomplishment, a feat well done!
You mentioned that you're afraid of heights and that Crib Goch was your main challenge for this race. How afraid of heights are you (weird question). It's an issue for me and one of the main reasons (one of many) I don't want to take on this race. What did you do to prepare for it? Have you ever done anything like Striding Edge to get yourself mentally prepared?
Hey, thank you very much for your comment. How afraid of heights I am? Okay so if I look down my pants are full... I'm very scared of heights. So what I did is I went in July to recce Crib Goch and after that I decided NOT to do the race. I got SO scared that I said it's not worth going and doing the race, it's not worth putting my life in danger for a race.
Have in mind I went with two other guys...
Then I changed my mind and I said I will do it but I will be very careful and not look down. So that's why I did. I took step by step and didn't look down much I was super focused on taking the right step. The team on top was very helpful as I felt a bit more safe. I would suggest you go and recce Crib at least once.
there was a guy that travelled from Australia that DNFed as he got timed out on Crib.
So if you decide to do it I wouldn't rush on Crib but I wouldn't waste time on other sections (taking pics, or spending too much time on Checkpoints) My mantra was always keep moving...
So it's up to you as I didn't go to Striding Edge or anywhere else I just said I will do it.
A guy that was close to me before climbing Crib said that as you do Crib more often it gets easier and I believe during the race it was 'easier' because I knew how long I had to go for...

Thank you very much Felipe, well done to you to my friend! Very happy for you.
I was looking for the word 'baby grass' and forgot it! Yes the baby grass and bogs got me injured...
Anw well done and I'm very happy for you that you finished the Hatchling :)
